Ongoing Research and Innovation
Throughout our Alliance teachers and staff in schools are carrying out valuable educational research, whether this is through Masters level or PhD level research or though learning communities, or simply being rigorous in testing the effectiveness of our interventions programmes.
Through this website we hope to publicise research areas that are currently in progress. We also hope that by bringing researchers and their projects to the attention of the wider educational community that opportunities for enhanced learning outcomes for children can be created. This can be through networking, sharing resources, connecting mutual areas of interest and building learning communities.
Current Research Engagement
‘Closing the Gap: Test and Learn’
Schools in our alliance are currently taking part in one of the biggest educational Randomised Control Trials in the world. The National College for Teaching and Leadership, in association with CfBT Education Trust, CUREE and the University of Oxford are coordinating this large scale trial of testing the effectiveness of popular interventions in both primary and secondary schools.
The Alliance have been involved in testing ‘Achievement for All’ and ‘Research Lesson Study’. Within this programme we have also been supported on developing ways of conducting small scale research projects within our school.
We will be posting the findings and evidence in the Autumn Term 2015.
Research Learning Communities
Latchmere School is proud to be involved in an innovative new research project being organised by the Institute of Education, evidenced and quality assured by the University of Bristol and funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF).
This project has two main strands. Firstly to look at the effectiveness of developing resilient communities of teachers who can work together to develop research projects through support, collaboration and peer-review. Secondly, to conduct a robust research project that is supported by expert researchers from the Institute of Education.
