Latchmere School is proud to be one of the second tranche of schools to be designated National Teaching School Status in September 2012. Collaboration is at the heart of the LTS Alliance and through our work together, the alliance will deliver high quality support across a number of areas:
- Recruiting and training new entrants to the profession (Initial Teacher Training)
- Peer-to-peer professional and leadership development (Continuing Professional Development)
- Identifying and developing leadership potential (succession planning and talent management)
- School to school support
- Designate and broker SLEs
- Engage in research and development activity
At the core of these areas are outstanding teaching and learning which will allow us to continue our pursuit of achieving the very best educational outcomes for all our children.
The role of the Teaching School is large and complex and one school cannot do it all. Each Teaching School has an Alliance – a group of schools and other partners that work with them to deliver the work. As a Teaching School, we want to support the schools within our alliance to continue to improve, as well as supporting schools outside the group Collaboration is at the heart of the LTS Alliance and through our work together, the alliance will deliver high quality support.
Latchmere is a Lead Teaching School for Mathematics and Special Educational Needs. This involves working with national organisations to develop policy and practice, for example we are working with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), as well as offering to support other Teaching Schools with their work in these areas.
